In Fragrant Close Proximity

    In Fragrant Close Proximity

Irresistible to my touch and sight

your backside sweetly exposed

in the bare candlelight.

So easily tempted, I strategize.

Perhaps some stealthy surprise

is what I playfully surmise.

Sliding over quietly, I move ever so close.

Hopefully you’ll never suspect

and surely not suppose.

Soon I have you in my sights

and attempt to make my move.

Then you duck and dodge

and try your best to elude.

I wonder in what way

could you possibly disapprove.

My only regret is that I lacked a head start,

and took my sweet time to depart.

Happily, this memory will always be cherished,

so sentimental to nose and heart.

The fragrant scent of cherry blossoms

still fills the air.

As we roll on the bed in stitches

we are both fully aware,

that the startling sound that tooted forth

was from your derriere.

A note from Chris

I wrote this poem today in response to a very special prompt at d’Verse Poets Pub ~ Open Link Night ~ Week 45.

I kept hoping there would be a  “humor” prompt coming soon ~ but  I decided that the world could not wait any longer to enjoy my lighter side of romance!

  1. Irresistible – What an excellent first word and theme to pull from stanza to stanza. Love it.

    • Beth, I always appreciate your take on my endeavors! Hopefully my playful approach kept the romance moving along with the appropriate amount of drama and adventure! Thanks for taking the time to comment.

  5. hahaha… I love the cherry blossoms… but(t) what a surprise ending!

    • Thanks Laurie for your always delightful comments! So what do you think ~ should I run with this a little more..perhaps a short story or novella? Maybe the suits at Telemundo or the Hallmark channel would be interested in an adapted version or screenplay?

  6. Chris…since connecting with twitter I’ve had a heck of a time with comments…so I disconnected 🙂 If you receive more than one comment, please forgive me…but I wanted to be sure you knew how much I enjoyed the write…I was dreaming and dancing in a cherry blossom rain…right up to the end…still smiling…still dreaming, but my dance faltered when I laughed outloud 😉

    • Thanks Natasha! So “in the end” you were still smiling and dancing? Doesn’t get much better than that then…..Perfect! I appreciate your contributions always!

  7. Haha! You got me good with this. One of the few times that I’ve legitimately laughed out loud while reading poetry.

  8. Wow- ha ha ha- killer ending! Literally!…. I was rolling in the bed sheets until suddenly…..very funny- I love that you were all romantic and serious and then things took a turn….like a slap in the face….

    • Hi Stu ! Yes, another one of life’s little serendipitous gifts and the Ending was a Killer and a Crack-Up! A very “moving experience” ! Thanks for coming along with me today!

  9. ok, surprise ending….haha…you had me in your spell and then everything changed…and not even a pull my finger…

    • “HaHa” Brian! ~ Stealth Technology covers a wide array of topics ~ I think some of this probably goes back to me always wanting to be a “secret agent man” or “counter-intelligence specialist”….just speculating! Thanks for coming by today and your comments!
