Clear Sailing

Clear Sailing

The sunny breezy ocean winds

raced playfully across the seas today.

And beckoned us to navigate,

to some perfect place without delay.

We charted the course, set our sails and

jaunting skillfully we cruised away.

And on this voyage that we’ve set about,

our hearts, with heated passion,

lovingly while away the day.

A note from Chris

Today I am submitting my poem “Clear Sailing” for our dVerse Poet’s Pub “bring home the bacon” challenge.  The request is to write a poem that uses an “idiom” or an expression that does not always mean literally what it says!  In this poem my express intention is to not to always be literally be out on the ocean sailing in a boat on the sea. My soul objective is to be “as close as close can be” to my true love.

  1. This is probably the most romantically written of the prompt’s writes. It’s written so that the idioms aren’t even noticeable- they meld right into the writing seamlessly. Great one.

  2. …ah, all i can say is sail on… sail on… passionate lovers… ah, you touched me so much with the simplicity of your intentions adorably expressed in this beautiful li’l poem… thank you & this is excellent… another favourite today… smiles…

  3. Like the smooth sailing of your words ~ Nice to meet you Chris ~

    • Thanks Grace! I follow along with you and love to read your work! Grace to you today from Texas!

  4. I love this Chris. So glad to see you at dVerse!

    • Thanks Laurie, I am trying to get my writers hat back on….. doing fine though… everyone is keeping me close to them and very busy with daily “stuff” and lots of fun projects. Guess we are in the Dog-Days of Texas heat aren’t we? Hope your summer is going just “peachy keen” (it’s an East Texas thang! – you know!)

  5. nice…just going where the breeze takes us…and it will be the perfect place…nice..

    • Claudia, You like the breeze for sure!…. where are you going next my vagabond friend? Grace to us today!

  6. wonderful romantic poetry here … sailing in perfect synchronisy with a love at hand

    • Bjorn ~ Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for your support today. I love the nautical references in this little piece! Historically, I guess so many have left their loved ones for long periods of time out there on the oceans. I would rather have my True Love with me….Sailing through life or drowning in sorrow and everything in between.

  7. sounds like a fun way to while away the day….second star to the right and sail on til morning…hope it is smooth sailing from here…smiles.

    • Thanks Brian…. I am with you brother! Sail on and TCB!
