Just a Fair Day

Just a Fair Day

October stirred its sweet parade,

with cooler winds and plans we made.

You’d light up at the thought of fun,

our fair day dreams had just begun.

We’d walk for hours, hand in hand,

through funnel cakes and a marching band.

You kissed me near the carousel,

that moment lives, I remember well.

The midway buzz, the flashing lights,

we gave ourselves to fair delights.

But more than sights and scents that stay,

it’s how you looked at me that day.

With corny dogs and fingers sweet,

we wandered slow on aching feet.

But in your smile, the world stood still,

our fair day lingered, so warm and real.
